Our assessment and treatment services include a range of dedicated professional staff that are delivering individual, family and group counselling, community and in-school clinical supports, residential services, day treatment services, alternative dispute resolution, family mediation, etc.

As a newly merged organization we look forward to more efficiently and effectively delivering a broader continuum of treatment and assessment services. Student Placements

As a recognized leader in children’s mental health, the York Centre provides field placement opportunities for students pursuing a career in children’s mental health. While there may be exceptions, generally the Centre will provide field placement for:

  • third year Child and Youth Work students - with the day treatment programs
  • Master of Social Work students - with the family / social work team
  • Bachelor of Social Work students - with the zero to six program

The educational facility will make recommendations and refer perspective students to the Centre. Candidates will submit resumes and avail themselves for an interview . Successful candidates must obtain a recent Vulnerable Sector Screening Criminal Reference Check and be in good standing with their respective educational institution.

Students accepted into placement at the Centre will be assigned a staff supervisor who will have similar educational background and training (ie. MSW) as the student in placement. The student will meet with their supervisor to establish the goals and objectives of the placement and to determine the evaluation requirements of the student. The supervisor will maintain required documentation and conduct evaluation as per the placement agreement and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the York Centre.
