Community Partners with Schools

COMPASS is a collaborative school-based mental health service delivery model for York Region Students. Our Mission is for schools and mental health services to work in collaboration to influence system improvements and provide timely and effective mental health supports for York Region students and their families.

Our goals are to address the mental health needs of York Region Students and their families by:
• Leading and influencing system improvements for an integrated response
• Facilitating learning, knowledge exchange and the capacity of all relevant parties to respond effectively
• Enhancing access to supports and services where and when they are needed
• Providing individualized treatment, service navigation and case management

The COMPASS Child and Family Counsellors are based in school settings and work as members of school teams, but are employed by partner agencies within the community. The education partners include the York Catholic District School Board and the York Region District School Board. The Children’s Mental Health Collaborators include The York Centre for Children Youth & Families, Kinark Child and Families Services, Family Services of York Region and Blue Hills Child & Family Centre.
